Intensive course of Ancient Greek

Intensive course of Ancient Greek with the Polis method
Learn to speak Ancient (Koine) Greek as a Living Language

Prof. Christophe Rico
Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ecole Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem

Would you like to read in the original the New Testament, the Parallel Lives of Plutarch, or the Histories of Polybius, as you would read an English text? Hearing or speaking ancient Greek, you can learn the language, which molded western culture, as naturally as you would learn a modern language: in a living way. With the Polis method, you can do it.

This course draws most of its inspiration from techniques usually applied nowadays for teaching modern languages. This method offers a series of Greek texts ordered according to a natural progression. From the first class, the course is taught in Greek and the students may dialog and interact in Greek with the teacher. The vocabulary applied during the course is drawn from different databases : Apollonius Dyscolus’ (grammatical vocabulary), Plutarch’s (usual daily words) and New Testament concordances (common vocabulary). In addition, the vocabulary of the Septuagint is applied whenever necessary.

You will find more information on the Polis method in the following site:
