In today’s society, more so than in any other time period, there exists a desire to be entertained. The time, effort, and money poured into pop culture from music to movies number in the trillions on dollars each year. That is why it is vitally important for Christian principles to be represented in these fields. Society needs to hear the message of truth and morality in music, fashion, art, and cinema, and that is why the work of M. Night Shyamalan is so powerful and successful. In each of his films, Shyamalan succeeds in weaving an intricate, absorbing story line, while at the same time developing characters and recreating modern cinema. The beauty of all this can be found when each story is examined following certain criteria. The purpose of this paper is to outline each of Mr. Shyamalan’s films along these criteria and to examine the importance of his work in regards to Christian morality in entertainment.
